I'm sure you are familiar by now but I take each moment as a moment to teach Little Fingers (and now Tiny Fingers) sign language! Last weekend we were raking leaves. So while she was jumping in the LEAF PILE I taught her the sign for LEAF PILE! Best part now is now she teaches Teeny Fingers. 

The Sign for LEAF PILE is LEAF plus PILE. ASL LEAF reminds me of the LEAF falling of the tree. The sign PILE sure looks like a pile right? What ASL signs are you learning right now?

Sign Language Fall Fun! ASL learning every season!

Now that my daughter is old enough (2.5 years old), we read thematic books. So now we're on FALL. I taught her that Halloween is over (so she stopped asking where all the indoor/outdoor decorations went!). We've been reading every FALL themed book I can get my hands on. And yet, I realized I forgot to teach her the sign for FALL!

So here it is. ASL FALL. Sign for FALL! Hopefully I'll have a new post with her signing it :) She's picking up new signs daily and teaching her sister (8 months)! Super fun sign language times over here!

WINTER'S Definitely Here and We're Going to Get SNOW!

I'm so excited, during our winter break we got SNOW flakes for Christmas Eve and we're supposed to get real snow tomorrow morning! Happy WINTER to everyone!

Sign for SNOW: 

There are two different signs for SNOW - this one above is representing slowly moving fingers (gentle wiggle if you may) representing the snow slowing falling. 

The other SNOW sign is a combo sign ... WHITE + RAIN

Sign: WINTER is the same as COLD (just obviously your mouth is saying 'WINTER' versus COLD! ;)

sign: SUN. it's HOT and SUNNY here!

This weekend is a HOT one Thank you Mr. SUN! We were going to go bike riding to Washington D.C. on a road trip quick weekend but the heat is stopping us! We'll stick to some simple relaxation (or should I say - much needed relaxation!)

To go along with our Outdoors series, TREE was the next most appropriate sign. When we talk our walks as mentioned before, there's never a walk that's passed without Ms Little Fingers pointing to the TREES. So we now have:

• SPRING 
• FLOWERS
• OUTSIDE
• TREES
• and I'm going to throw in DOG because our walks wouldn't be the same without Reilly!

I just posted recently SPRING because we have some beautiful SPRING weather. So I was trying think what goes with SPRING - certainly FLOWERS. 

SPRING is sure here!

SPRING has surely sprung! We've got a cute little coloring page for you for SPRING. Little Fingers is loving getting her fingers wet and dirty outside in the yard. During our walks (thanks to this great SPRING weather) we're able to sign a whole new set of vocabulary words! (Coming at you the next two weeks!)

sign: COLD

It's winter here in the greater North East (as the weathermen say) ... it's pretty cold! But we love it! Lil doesn't seem to mind. She smiles when we sign COLD "brr"! We're very fortunate she let's us bundle her up. There was a time when she wasn't a fan of being bundled! We're loving the snow today and hoping it'll keep accumulating so we can go outside and play!

sign: SNOW. Oh winter is finally here!

We are lovers of cold and SNOW here at HearMyHands. Yesterday was the first SNOW of the real winter season. We're were very excited about this, but unfortunately because of my newly stitched thumb and Little Finger's nap schedule, we didn't go out to play :( 


But we did get some great snow and it's still on the ground! We're very happy! Perhaps we'll go out today to play! Who else has snow this lovely weekend? What's your favorite traditions when it snows? Our are usually me watching the men SNOW blow our driveway and street with the neighbors while I'm out back throwing SNOWballs for the dogs. Times have changed! Now Little Fingers is in the mix and we get to create all new traditions :)
